Prof. Judy Wakhungu is the Kenya Ambassador to France, Portugal, Serbia and Holy See. Prior to this position, She was the Cabinet Secretary (Minister) Environment, Water and Natural Resources (2013 – 2018). She was also the Executive Director of the African Center for Technology Studies (ACTS) in Nairobi, Kenya from 2002 to 2013. She is a holder of a PhD. in Energy Resource Management (1993) from Penn State University; an MSc in Petroleum Geology (1986) from Acadia University, Nova Scotia, Canada, and a BSc. in Geology (1983) from St. Lawrence University, New York. Prof. Wakhungu has over 20 years’ research and teaching experience in the areas of Energy Policy and Development; Science, Technology, Public Policy & Development; and Gender Issues in Science & Technology Policy. She is also an Energy Adviser to the Energy Sector Management Program of the World Bank and Adviser at the Legatum Center at MIT. She is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Management of Social Transformation Programme.
