Biovision Africa Trust (BvAT) seeks to recruit a competent and highly motivated consultant as a resource Person/facilitator on Agroecology Integration into CAADP Kampala Declaration Implementation and RASIPs.

Established in 2009 and headquartered at the icipe campus in Nairobi, Biovision Africa Trust (BvAT) is a Pan-African not-for-profit organization dedicated to alleviating poverty and enhancing the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. We serve as a leading catalyst for the agroecological transformation of African agri-food systems by bridging the gap between scientific research and practical, farmer-led solutions through robust knowledge dissemination and capacity building. Our continental impact is driven through the Farmer Communication Programme in East Africa, the AU’s Ecological Organic Agriculture (EOA) Initiative, and the Knowledge Centre for Organic Agriculture (KCOA) hubs across all five regions of Africa. Background about the Project
The Catalyzing Agroecology Transition in Africa (CATA) Project, funded by the EU through IFAD and co-implemented by the AU EOAI and FARA, supports RECs to integrate
agroecology into RASIPs and CAADP implementation processes.
Purpose of the Assignment
- To engage a qualified agroecology expert to deliver a presentation on the case for agroecology, its benefits, policy implications, investment opportunities, and integration into CAADP Kampala Declaration implementation.
- Facilitate plenary and breakout sessions as per the agenda, ensuring the required understanding of discussions, group work, and ensuring delivery of expected outcomes.
Objectives of the Session
Build awareness on agroecology; demonstrate linkages with Kampala CAADP Strategy and
Action Plan; highlight benefits; identify policy entry points; identify investment
opportunities; partnerships and support integration into RASIPs.
Scope of Work
Prepare and deliver a technical presentation; facilitate discussions; provide African case
studies; and support identification of agroecology integration pathways.
Expected Deliverables
Inception note (Maximum 2 pages), PowerPoint presentation, background paper, reference
list, and session report.
Expected Results
Improved understanding and strengthened REC capacity for agroecology
integration. Additional facilitation of plenary sessions and management of side events to
ensure REC discussions deliver the required results.
Duration of the assignment
Five (5) days
Qualifications
Relevant advanced degree and at least 10 years of experience in agroecology, policy, and
investment planning.
