About Biovision Africa Trust
Biovision Africa Trust (BvAT) is a not-for-profit organization established in Kenya in 2009 by the Biovision Foundation for ecological development in Switzerland and
supported by the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology icipe in Nairobi. The Trust’s goal is to alleviate poverty and improve the livelihoods of
smallholder farmers in Kenya and other African countries through supporting dissemination of information and knowledge on appropriate technologies to improve
human, animal, plant, and environmental health. To achieve this, BvAT has three broad programmes through which the mission is unfolded. The Farmer Communication Programme (FCP), the Ecological Organic Agriculture (EOA) Projects and Knowledge Centre for Organic Agriculture (KCOA). FCP has four (4) pathways through which ESA technologies and practices are disseminated over the Print (The Organic Farmer and Mkulima Mbunifu Magazines), the Radio (The Organic Farmer Radio), Online (Infonet) and the Outreach to reach smallholder farmers.
About the assignment
BvAT is producing a documentary to mark the World Food Day under the theme ‘Right to Foods, for a Better Life and a Better Future’. The purpose of the documentary is to highlight how various sector players are contributing to the theme of the World Food Day.
Scope of work
BvAT would like to contract the services of a drone operator to film various agricultural drone shots within Nandi County.
The responsibility of the drone operator will be:
- Familiarize with the pre-production script to understand the shots required.
- Creatively film the drone shots as directed by the videography officer.
- Submit all the raw footage files to the videography officer.
- Ensure drone flight operations comply with the relevant laws and regulations.
- Maintain and troubleshoot their drone equipment.
Consultancy period
The production of the drone shots will be done in two days.
Deliverable
At the end of the project, the drone videography consultant will be required to provide:
- All the raw footage clips in 4k format.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Drone Pilot License or Certificate (RPL or RPA certificate) issued by the KCAA (Kenya Civil Aviation Authority).
- Must have at least 2 years’ experience operating a variety of drones.
- Must be knowledgeable in aviation regulations.
- Ability to make quick decisions.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Attention to details.
- Professional work ethic, integrity, and initiative.
Terms of payment
The fee and the exact terms of payment will be negotiated with the consultant before signing of the contract.

- Quotation of the cost for the drone services (using your own drone).
- A minimum of three samples of recent work: online portfolios and links to drone videography work is a must.
- Updated CV and three references.
