Prof. Christian Borgemeister is the Director of the Ecology and Natural Resources Management Department at the Centre for Development Research (ZEF) of the University of Bonn, Germany. He was recently the Director-General of the International Center of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), in Nairobi (2005 – 2013). Borgemeister is a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society (UK) and the African Academy of Sciences (AAS). Since November 2011 he has been the President of the ESA International Branch. He is internationally recognized for his research on bio-control and IPM in the tropics. From 1992–1997 he worked as a postdoc, associate, and later, senior scientist in the Biological Control Program for Africa at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Benin, West Africa.
