Prof. Onesmo K. ole-MoiYoi

Prof. Onesmo K. ole-MoiYoi is a Senior Visiting Scientist at the International Center of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) and Senior Advisor, Academic Planning at Aga Khan University (East Africa). He has been the Chairman of the Board of Management of the former Kenya Agricultural Research Institute and Agricultural Research Consortium (2012-2014). Prof. Ole-MoiYoi is a 2003 winner of the Kilby International Award. He previously served as Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Kenyatta University Council for 22 years and the Director of Research and Partnerships at ICIPE. In 2007, he completed two cycles as a member of the CGIAR Science Council. He was Director of the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Laboratory at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRAD), and a Leader in the Program on Pathophysiology and Genetics. He held an assistant professorship and Capps’ Scholar positions at Harvard Medical School and a visiting professorship at the Harvard School of Public Health in the 1980s and 1990s. He was elected to the Human Genome Organization (HUGO) in 1991 and was a member of the Biodiversity and Bioinformatics committees of HUGO. Prof. Ole-MoiYoi is a graduate of Harvard College (1968), where he was a Harvard Aga Khan Scholar, and of Harvard Medical School (1972).
