The Transformative Partnership Platform on Agroecology – Agroecology TPP

2nd Annual Members Forum Meeting

12 – 13 March 2024, Nairobi, Kenya – ICRAF Conference Hall & Online

Agenda

Background and Objectives of the Meeting

The Agroecology TPP was established to accelerate and co-ordinate work on agroecology across international, national and local scales, with the aim of fostering transitions to more sustainable agricultural and food systems. The Members Forum is composed of all institutions that formally engage in TPP projects, are active in the TPP’s science-policy or sciencedevelopment interface, are represented in the governance and advisory bodies or have submitted an application form and agree to the membership charter. In addition to institutional members, individuals participating in the TPP’s Community of Practice are warmly welcomed to contribute to the annual meeting.

The overarching goal of the Annual Members Forum Meeting is to foster a safe and inclusive environment to facilitate meaningful – and critical – reflections on the functioning and progress of the Agroecology TPP so far. We aim to assess key achievements, identify successful strategies, pinpoint challenges – as well as their underlying causes – and determine priorities for the future on what we should continue on doing and what, instead, we should do differently. The specific objectives of the meeting include:

  1. Progress evaluation: Reviewing the TPP’s overall direction and positioning, including achievements, research findings, key challenges, and lessons learnt.
  2. Global community building: Strengthening the TPP by fostering connectivity, inclusivity, and a sense of belonging among stakeholders, including members of the Steering Committee and the Community of Practice (CoP).
  3. Needs assessment: Examining knowledge and implementation gaps that can be addressed in future endeavors.
  4. Collaboration framework: Establishing a clear path for collaboration to enhance partnerships as well as prioritize areas for partnerships.
  5. Innovative science: Exploring concrete avenues to accelerate transformative approaches that are aligned with the principles of agroecology, all the while fostering a shared understanding of how to ‘do science differently’.
