Biovision Africa Trust (BvAT) and PELUM Uganda wish to recruit a consultant to undertake a baseline study on Information, Knowledge and Training needs assessment for its Knowledge Center for Organic Agriculture (KCOA) Project in Eastern Africa – as it commences its first phase of implementation for a period of 2 years (2019- 2021).
Biovision Africa Trust is the Lead coordinating agency with co-hosting arrangement with Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) Uganda. The KCOA is part of the Continental Digital Knowledge Platform coordinated by the GIZ with funding support from BMZ Special Initiative One-World-No-Hunger (SEWOH). The overall objective of the Continental Digital Knowledge Platform is to introduce knowledge hubs successfully as an innovative strategy for promoting organic agriculture with actors in the regions of West, East and Southern Africa while the fourth regional knowledge hub in Northern Africa is envisaged in cooperation with SEKEM.
The overall goal of KCOA is to ensure that Ecological Organic Agriculture is integrated into the Eastern Africa agricultural systems in 4 countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. The KCOA Project is expected to be aligned with the Ecological Organic Agriculture Initiative (EOA-I), an African Union-led continental undertaking currently rolled out in 9 African countries with the
oversight of the African Union Commission (AUC) Department of Rural Economy and Agriculture. The oversight is provided through the Continental Steering Committee of the EOA-I.
